Philanthropist, Sports Team Owner, US Presidential Official. The grandson of industrialist Henry Kaiser, he attained his Bachelor of Arts from Stanford University and earned his Master of Business Administrations from Harvard University. Following his service with the US Agency for International Development during the Vietnam War, Kaiser became a White House Fellow, eventually serving as a special assistant to President Johnson. He was later appointed special assistant to US Secretary of the Interior Walter J. Hickel during the administration of Richard Nixon. During the 1970s, he became involved with several family business endeavors in the Vancouver-area including Kaiser Steel Corporation, also serving as chairman of the Bank of British Columbia from 1984 to 1986. He made an impression on the American professional sports landscape when he became majority proprietor of the Denver Broncos in 1981. During his tenure, Dan Reeves was hired as head coach and Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway was acquired in a trade from the Baltimore Colts, positioning the franchise for a successful future run. In 1984 he sold the team to Pat Bowlen and one year later, the Kaiser Foundation was established. Since its existence, there has been vast strides made in the bettering of health issues including mental health.
