From the Sons of the Revolution:

"Application of Olney Eugene Kohn" of Wynnewood, Garvin County, Oklahoma, 17 Aug 1892, great-grandson of James Wilson, Jr. Private in the S. C. Militia in the company of Capt. Lewis Devall, under Col. Benj. Kilgore; later in the Company of Capt. Lewis Saxon, under Col. Levi Casey, Lt. Col. of the Little River Regiment of Militia. There are no muster rolls of the Militia. Every able-bodied man enrolled under the Captain of his beat. Unless he applied for his pay there are no details of his service, only the return of the Colonel of the District. Many did not apply for pay. Sometimes the distance to go was too great, and sometimes they did not learn of the settling of army accounts until the time allotted for it had passed. (This information is from Mr. F. M. Hutson, Chief Clerk of the S. C. Historical Commission at Columbia.) Unfortunately, James Wilson did not apply for pay for his military service. Only the
return of Col. Anderson of Ninety-Six District and the deposition of Susan, his widow, in the pension papers of Richard Gideon, testify to his service. However, since Richard Gideon gave the names of the Officers under whom he served and the two Captains lived in the vicinity in which James Wilson lived, too, their records substantiate the claim for his service. A deed from William Willson to James Willson for land granted to James Willson, Jr., shows that they lived on Little River in Ninety-Six District, Laurens
County, S. C.

According to Kohn, James Wilson, Jr. died in 1828-29 in Monroe County, MS. Susanna died after 1812 in Monroe County, MS. He said the couple was married about 1775 in SC.
