Historian, archaeologist, painter and achivist, he was an influential figure in Elche, his town of origin. He was the author of the Historia de Elche, among other works of different kinds and was involved in reporting the archaeological discovery of La Dama de Elche, a bust that was found by chance in 1897. Among his writings was "Ramón Lagier. Notes for a biography", which is about the life of Capt. Lagier.
