"Bert Lawrence, a fourteen-year-old
boy who lived with his step-father, C.
Enersen,six miles southwest of Rock
Valley, was dragged to death by a
horse Saturday afternoon. He had
gone out to hero cattle and did not return
when expected. A search was
made and his dead body was found
with one foot in the stirrup. He had
been thrown from the horse and
dragged to death at the animals heels.
Coroner De Bey was notified. but a
talk over the telephone convinced him
that the death was purely accidental
and he thought it best not to go to the
expense of an inquest."
