Lib Gill, 80, of Norman, Ark., formerly of Longview, died Sunday, May 20, 2007, at home.

She was born May 1, 1927, in Norman, the daughter of Paul O. and Myrtle Ruth (Maxey) Thomas.

On July 27, 1944, she married Charles "Chuck" Gill who preceded her in death March 12, 1997. Mr. Gill was the former Sheriff of Cowlitz County. She was also preceded in death by a brother, James Thomas, and a sister, Frances Swindle.

Mrs. Gill was a member of the Norman First Baptist Church, a charter member of Good Neighbor Day, a member of the Montgomery County Heritage Society, a member of the Old Norman High School Restoration Project Committee and a member of the Red Cross. She was also a volunteer at the Norman Library and past president of the Ladies of Elks in Longview.

She is survived by a son, Charles P. Gill of Olympia; a daughter, Paula Gill of Benton, Ark.; a grandson, Nicolai Gill of Olympia; several nieces and nephews; and her constant companion, Beau.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Black Springs Cemetery with the Rev. Doug Wills officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Nic Gill, T. J. Johnson, Brandon Johnson, Becky Smith, Sarah Johnson, Crystal Carpenter, Gordon Sells, the staff of eICUCARES Baptist Health of Little Rock and members of MNF-I SCID 010 Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood, Ark. A guest registry is atwww.davis-smith.com.
