Frederick Muller son of George and Katarina Muller emigrated from Germany to the United States in 1878. In 1882 he enlisted in the U.S. Army. After participating in campaigns againt the Apache in Arizona and New Mexico he was honorably discharged in 1887. Muller then served two terms as a member of the city board of education and was elected Santa Fe Treasurer in 1896, 1898 and 1900. He then had the command of E Troop, 1st U.S. Volunteer Calvary (The Rough Riders). During the Spanish American War he served as a Rough Rider with Teddy Roosevelt until he was mustered out in 1898. In 1899, he was appointed Receiver of the United Stated Land Office at Santa Fe and served until 1911. During the 1920's Muller engaged in land and insurance business and in 1931 and 1934 was commissioned a United States Commissioner in Santa Fe, New Mexico where he died on September 16, 1934 and was buried September 18, 1934. Muller married Adella Miller and had six children.
