"Jeff" as he was known in his adult life was the son of Manuel Manzo and Mary Lorenza Enriques. He was named for St Zephyrinus, being born on that saint's day.
Jeff had several different jobs...at age 17 he was a hired man on one of Henry Miller's hay farms, and by age 22 when he filed his WWI draft papers, Jeff was a painter.
