Mrs. Kate Reece Reagan, age 90, of 1404 W Lakeview Drive, Johnson City, died peacefully at home on Thursday, June 23, 2011. Mrs. Reagan was a native of Butler, TN, and lived most of her life in Johnson City. She was the daughter of Salva Potter Reece and Joseph Harvey Reece. Mrs. Reagan came to Johnson City to work at the Chamber of Commerce, and later worked with Congressman B. Carroll Reece in Washington, D.C. She was married for sixty-two years to Ralph C. Reagan and was a loving wife and mother. She not only nurtured her immediate family, but also cared for many in her extended family until the end of their lives. She was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church, where she taught children's Sunday School. Even during her difficult final years, she maintained a sweet spirit. Mrs. Reagan is preceded in death by: her husband, Ralph C. Reagan; her parents; two brothers, Boyd and Earl Reece; and six sisters, Mae Lewis, Bess Stout, Norva Reece, Ruby Smith, Vivian Brown, and Gladys Chandler. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Wayne Strickler of Knoxville; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Claire Reagan of Johnson City; 5 grandchildren, Mark Slemp, Kathryn Shelton, Emily Pritchard, Whitney Kelley, and Joel Reagan; two great grandchildren, William Slemp and Riley Pritchard; and numerous special nieces and nephews. The family of Mrs. Kate Reece Reagan will receive friends from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM, Sunday, June 26, 2011 at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A private graveside service will follow.
