John Henry Ackerman, for many years a resident of Mansfield, an honest man, a good citizen and one of blameless life, diminutive in size, but large of soul and mind, passed away from earthly life at 2 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 31.
He was born Feb. 21, 1820 in Neider Modau, Hessen Darmstadt, and came to America in 1865, locating in this city, with wife and six children, of whom four, Henry and Peter, Margaret (Mrs. Henry Schmunk), and Mary (Mrs. Charles Heuss) are residents of Mansfield, George and Elizabeth ( Mrs. Jacob Hartman) are deceased.
Until comparatively recently Mr. Ackerman was in good health for one of his age, and his was a familiar figure on the local streets.
