Exa Melissa Scholl, 93, Blackduck, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, at Heritage House, Blackduck.

She was born to Jesse and Margaret Hurlbert on Oct. 25, 1906, at Raymond, S.D. She married Roy Scholl Oct. 7, 1925, at Raymond, S.D. They moved to Norden, Minn., near Kelliher, in 1933 and later moved to Kelliher. She had been a cook at Daken's Cafe many years and later cooked at the Kelliher Nursing Home. She had served as president of the Kelliher American Legion Auxiliary for several years.

Survivors include two sons, Bruce (Helen) Scholl, Babbitt, Minn., and Richard (Beverly) Scholl, Dannemora, N.Y.; three daughters, Mary Lou (Dell) Clark, Yuma, Ariz., Helen Ann (Karl) Johnson, St. Cloud, and Betty (Bill) Mattson, Nisswa, Minn.; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lorraine Holms, Lansford, N.D.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1993; an infant daughter; one son, Caryl, 1999; her parents; six brothers; and three sisters.

Children: Howard (14), Exa (13), Lyle (12), Agnes (10), Ora (9), Cecil (8), Walter (6), Jess Clifton (5), Elaine (3), and Roland (1).
