Jennie (Magdy) Yajko, 82, of West Leechburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012, in West Haven Manor in Washington Township. She was born Dec. 29, 1929, in Ford City, a daughter of the late Elko Magdy and Natialia (Wozna) Magdy. She was a homemaker, formerly working at the Mastarone Mushroom Farm in West Leechburg and at the former Bards Dairyland in Allegheny Township. She was a member of St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church in West Leechburg and a member of West Leechburg Firemen's Auxiliary. A 1947 graduate of Ford City High School, she enjoyed watching TV, working at West Leechburg Firehall and spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Yajko, who died Nov. 3, 1999; a son, Peter A. Yajko, who died in 2004; brothers, Steve Magdy and Joseph Magdy; and sisters, Stella Danka and Minnie Stover. Survivors include her daughters, Margaret "Peggy" Wright, of West Leechburg, and Paula (Keith) Schultz, of Allegheny Township; five grandchildren, James Wright, Kristen Bates, Paul Schultz, Fred Schultz and Pete Schultz; and sisters, Mary Cacurak, of Ford Cliff, and Olga (Robert) Smith, of Gilpin Township. Friends welcomed by her family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at CLAWSONS, 170 Main St., Leechburg (724-842-1051). A requiem divine Liturgy will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church in West Leechburg with the Rev. John D. Gribik officiating (everyone please meet at the church).
