Jacob Searer Martin, 88 years old, died Friday morning at his home in Elkhart. He had suffered a stroke of apoplexy eleven years ago, but had partially recovered.
He was born in Pennsylvania and came to Elkhart county with his parents, Mr and Mrs Christian Martin, when he was eight years old. The family settled on a farm southeast of Wakarusa and Martin lived there until 1872, when he moved to Elkhart.
He is survived by his wife two brothers, and a sister, Mrs Sara Jane Mast, of Goshen.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the home and at two o'clock at the Church of the Brethren in Elkhart.
