Inez McCluney, 56, of 125 Creekview Lane, Gaffney, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born in Cherokee County, she was a daughter of the late Claude and Myrtle Phillips McCluney .

She was a 1973 graduate of Gaffney High School and a retired employee of Cherokee County School District No. 1. Ms. McCluney was Cafeteria Manager at Mary Bramlett Elementary School and had also been employed as a substitute teacher, a cafeteria worker at Gaffney High School, and in the photo department at Walmart.

She was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, where she served as an usher, member of the Y.W.A.s, Gospel Choir, Mass Choir, Pastor's Aid, and chairperson of the Culinary Committee. She also served as president of the Thicketty Mountain Association Ushers; and member of the Y.W.A.s.

Ms. McCluney was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings, Broadus Phillips, Claude McCluney Jr., Wineva Phillips and Doris Phillips.

She is survived by: a daughter, Ashley Mc- Cluney of the home; a niece raised as a daughter, Charity McCluney of Gaffney; sisters, Carolyn Abernathy of Washington, D.C., Susan Phillips, Kathy Camp, Janet McCluney, Wandra Mc- Cluney, Thaylia Phillips, Bunny Phillips and Angela Miller (Walter), all of Gaffney; and three grandchildren.

Funeral serviceswill be Monday, Feb. 6, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church with the Rev. C.A. Wallace officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Body will be in the churchMonday at 1 p.m.
