Alice Hood Kitchings passed away on Feb 1, 2012. She was born in Bienville, LA on May 22, 1935.
She was preceded in death by her father, Allen Hood, mother, Christine Hood; brothers, Elton Hood, William Hood and Huey Hood; sister, Lottie Hood Franks. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Bennett M Kitchings; daughter, Keri A Kitchings; son, Dr Steven Kitchings; sisters, Lois Jordan and Aline Upshaw; numerous nieces and nephews.
Alice was employed by the Caddo Parish School System for over 25 years. She was born and lived in Bienville, LA until moving to Shreveport, LA. During her high school years, she became a "star" on the basketball court averaging 29 points per game. She won several state championships and was honored in the year 2000 by being inducted as a member of the Louisiana High School Coaches Hall of Fame for scoring 8,000 points during her high school career. Alice was a member of Grawood Baptist Church for many years.
Pallbearers will be Maxie Kitchings, Jerry Kitchings, Jeffrey Jones, Terry Norris, Andy Farless and Langford Caskey. Honorary pallbearers are Betty Booty and Betty Fair.
