Rickards' 1879 date was fiction. There is no 1889 Storey county death record, nor is he in the 1870 or 1880 censuses in Storey.
[Rickards fiction. Death date on memorial currently 19 September 1889: Richard Rogers Was born in Cornwall England in 1824. He came to America in the 1840's looking for Gold in California but like so many others he did not find his fortune. He later came to Nevada settling in Virginia City were he worked as a miner until his death on March. 31st 1879 because of "Stone dust chest" at age 45. He was laid to rest in the Virginia City Cemetery with only a simple sandstone marker on his grave.]
