Reverend Mother Mary Moran, RSCJ, was born in Dublin in 1851 and entered the Society of the Sacred Heart at Roehampton, England. She was vicar of Canada between 1901 and 1908. In 1908 Mother Moran came to the United States to become the first President of Manhattanville College of the Sacred Heart in Purchase, New York. Mother Moran was President of Manhattanville between 1917 and 1918. She was named vicar of the New York vicariate in 1919.

Reverend Mother Moran was noted for her holiness as well as a shrewd sense for business. She excelled at all of her endeavors. Reverend Mother Moran died 25 FEB 1934 at Kenwood, Albany.
