Abigail married Abner Shaw of Bridgewater, Massachusetts Colony on 16 Apr 1770. She remained at home operating the needs of the home, farm and family like so many of the woman of her era, as their husbands went off to battle for own freedom in our Revolutionary War.

Her husband Abner, served from 1776-79 entering the rank of Private and discharge at rank of CPL.

Abigail and Abner had at least eight children born to them, all born in Middleboro, Plymouth, Massachusetts.

In 1798, Abigail removed with her husband and their family to the new land given to them for his honorable service in Revolutionary War, in Paris, Oxford Co., Maine. Sadly, during their journey two children died.

The children that arrived safely, settled and married in Maine were:
Lucy, Gilbert, Abner Jr., Anna, Abigail and Francis; 3 daughters & 3 sons.

In June 1803, her husband Abner completed their handsome new home as town of Paris records and barn. Sadly within days of the completion Abner (her husband) fell sick with fever and died at the age of 56 years.

She remained in the operation of the home & farm, up to her death. Her eldest son Gilbert remained living and operating the farm with his mother and later with his wife Silence and their family. Abigail died at her home in March 1831, 28 years after the passing of her husband. Abigail never re-married after the death of her Abner in 1803.

Abigail was laid to rest beside her husband at King Hill Cemetery, located today in South Paris, Oxford Co., Maine. Their son Gilbert, his wife and some family are also buried at King Hill.
