Mrs. Mary E. Newhouse, wife of Mr. George A. Newhouse, Sr., died at her home, 724 Vincennes street, after a short illness of inflammatory rheumatism. Mrs. Newhouse was taken ill shortly after her return from a visit to relatives in New York City about two weeks ago. Mrs. Newhouse was sixty-one years and was a native of Wheeling, W. Va., where she was born in 1844. She came to this city at an early age and had resided here since then. She was married to Mr. Newhouse in 1860. Besides her husband, she leaves four sons and three daughters. They are John, Edward, George A. and Charles Newhouse, Mrs. Henry L. Graf, Mrs. W. A. Laufer and Mrs. Edward Baldwin, all of this city with the exception Mrs. Baldwin, who resides in New York City. Mrs. Newhouse is also survived by her mother, Mrs. John Mattern, 517 East Ninth street. - New Albany Evening Tribune 04 May 1905 p4c4
