Son of John and Cicely (Roberts) Martin. Husband of Eliza Dunnington and her sister Violet (who is buried in Hurricane Creek IOOF Cemetery in Joseph, Oregon). Father of Ada (Martin) Bass (my grandmother), also buried in East Lawn Cemetery, Mary Isabelle (Martin) Fendorf, Chester A., Nelly, Joseph L., Lydia (Martin) Millard, Louis B., Eva (Martin) Davis, and Edgar.

He was born in Kentucky. He fought and was wounded in the Civil War. He lived in Miller Co., MO, Wallowa Co., OR, and finally moved close to his daughter Ada Bass in Sacramento, where he passed away and was buried. According to his death certificate, cause of death was gangrene of the foot.
