ALVARADO - Oneita Girdwood, 86, a homemaker, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 1997, at a Keene nursing home.
Funeral: 3 p.m. Friday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Burial: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Oneita Girdwood was born April 3, 1911, in Cleburne. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Alvarado and a former member of Carter Park United Methodist Church. She belonged to the United Methodist Women, serving as president of the Carter Park United Methodist Women.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Elmer, in July, 1997.
Survivors: Daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Jack Gattis of Alvarado; sister, Nona Jackson of McKinney; granddaughters, Carla Jo Peikoff, Lana Kay Campbell and Lori Skjong-Nilsen; and six great-grandchildren.
