YORK - Darrell S. Allen Sr., 79, of York, died at 11:50 p.m. Thursday at York County Nursing Home. He was the companion of Joann Ruby of York and the husband of the late Catherine (Foley) Allen.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2935 Kingston Road, York. Burial will be private. There will be no viewing. Mr. Allen willed his body to the Humanity Gifts Registry program. The John

Mr. Allen was born Nov. 7, 1921, in Wallowa, Ore. He was the son of the late Evan O. and Minnie E. Boatman) Allen.
He had been an engineer, serving as a commercial inspector for the insurance industry. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Allen also is survived by three sons, Darrell Allen Jr. of Demmosville, Ky., Jay Allen of Dover and Evan Allen of Manchester; two daughters, Christine Scarpato of Thomasville and Dottie Keech of Chambersburg; seven grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Officiating at the service will be the Rev. John McCloskey.
