The death record for Abigail says she is the
w/o Jehial Applebee.
I found their marriage record that says it
was Dec. 14, 1826 in New Hampshire.
There was an error in the recording
of her death record. There is a record for female death
of Abigail Applebee, and a male death record that
shows "Mrs Jehial Applebee". The dates are exactly
the same for both.
The 1850 Lyndon Census shows Abigail with:
Jehial Applebee (45) NH
Abigail Applebee (55) MS
Cephas Applebee (19)NH
Eleazer Russell (77) MS
Lorinda Russell (40)NH Lorinda is buried next to Abigail in Lyndon Center
( It is my assumption that Eleazer is the father of
Abigail and Lorinda, but no verification as of yet)
The 1860 census has Abigail living with her son Cephas
and his wife Lovisa and their son William S. (age 4 mths)
In doing some research is appears that Cephas was born
1832 and worked as a jeweler. He had quite the reputable
business, and had some inventions. However, in 1874
there was quite the scandal concerning Cephas and was
stated in the article that if he hadn't left on his own he
would have been tarred and feathered and made to leave.
Cephas , his wife and son depart Lyndon for New Jersey
where it appears they remain.
As for what happens to Jehiel, he is the son of Nathan and
Catherine Applebee/Appleby who was born in Littleton,NH
5/9/1802. There are adds in the local newspapers 1844
for his work as a tinsmith.
As he is not listed in the 1860 census I made the assumption
that his marriage to Abigail was not "till death do us part"
I then found a marriage for Jehiel on 5/12/1857 in Hardwick,
Mass. at the age of 55. Occupation listed as machinist, and
born in Littleton, NH. His wife was a Mary Cowles (51).
That is the last information that I have found.
