Mr. Balka's death followed a long illness. He was an employe of the American Agricultural Chemical Company and had lived in Carteret thirty-five years. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World and St. George Greek Catholic Society.
Pallbearers were the following members of the Woodmen: Joseph Bakos, Joseph Gall, Rudolph Meltreder, Joseph Teleposki, Andrew Lazar, Andrew Paul and Alex Molnar.
Mr. Balka is survived by his widow, the former Miss Mary Takacs; two sons, Lawrence with the Army overseas and Joseph Jr.; a daughter, Mrs. Anna Lukacs of Carteret; two brothers, Geza and John; a sister, Mrs. Anna Pop in Hungary and five grandchildren.
