James Perry Ballard is the son of H. C. Ballard and Mandy Flannagon Ballard. He was the husband of Minnie Leona Brasher Ballard.

JAMES PERRY BALLARD

James Perry Ballard, 91, North Fourth Street and 13th Avenue, Attalla, died at 11:02 a.m. yesterday at his residence following a five-week illness.

A native and lifelong resident of Etowah County, Mr. Ballard was a retired miner and a member of the Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Minnie Brasher Ballard; three daughters, Mrs. H. C. Gerber, Mrs. Hazel Fortenberry and Mrs. James Kimbril, all of Attalla; a stepson, Will Ballard, Boaz, Route 3; and a grandchild, Peggy Fortenberry.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Shady Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. L. H. Newsome officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, with Collier-Butler directing.

Active pallbearers will be Bill Clontz, Buddie Franklin, Disque Samples, R. E. Kembril, S.D. Martin, John Grady.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. W.W. Rowan, George J. Walker, Jr., N.E. Mayo, Ray Jones, Charles W. Burke and J. C. McClendon.

The body will remain at the residence until the hour of service.
