She was a member of the St. Josephs Catholic Church, St. Anns Altar Society, American Legion Womens Auxiliary & a lifetime member & past president of the VFW Womens Auxiliary.
Dorothy married Francis L. Shalz on December 31, 1940 in Wathena, Kansas. He preceded her in death on October 13, 1988. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 4 sons, Francis Wayne, Richard, Larry & Joey Shalz & a sister, Stella Schoenfelder.
Survivors: sons, Neil Shalz of St. Joseph, Missouri;
Don Shalz of Kansas City, Kansas;
Daughters, Linda Shalz of St. Joseph, Missouri;
Karen Hurd of St. Joseph, Missouri;
11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren & 5 great-great-grandchildren;
Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins & many friends.

Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wathena, Kansas.
