SCHENEVUS — Margaret Louise Cole, 83, passed away Friday, Nov. 4, 2005, at her home.
She was born Feb. 3, 1922, in Warnerville, the daughter of George Englert and Anna (Roerig) Englert Clissold, and her stepfather, Arthur Clissold.
She married Sylvester D. Cole on July 3, 1943, in Clovis, N.M. He predeceased her May 31, 1996.
Margaret and her family moved to the Schenevus area in 1955. She worked for the Templeton Glove Shop in Schenevus and at Astrocom Electronics Inc. in Colliersville.
Margaret was an avid Yankees fan. She was a member of the C.H. Graham Hose Co. Auxiliary, Schenevus, a charter member of the Schenevus VFW Post 2752 Auxiliary and a member of the Schenevus Young at Heart Senior Citizens.
She is survived by her children, Donna and husband Terrence Johns of Richmondville, Sharon and her husband Patrick Ward of Maryland, David and his wife Pamela Cole of Westford and Richie Westcott of Schenevus; grandchildren, Sandra Salisbury, Darrick Cole, Dareth Haley, Brent and Brenden Johns, and Frank Ward; great-grandchildren, Kailee, Patrick and Triston O'Donnell, Isaiah and Iriyah Haley, Hailey Ward and Mackenzie Velasco; two sisters, Anna Elizabeth Zeller of Indian Lake, Fla., and Alma Binger of Warnerville; two stepsisters, Madeline Warner of Fultonham and Kay and Donald Phelan of Warnerville; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son, Bruce, and a grandson, Damian.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., with family in attendance from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7, at the Heller Funeral Home in Schenevus.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, at the funeral home, led by the Rev. Judith A. Thistle, chaplain at A O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.
Burial will follow in the Elk Creek Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the C.H. Graham Hose Co., PO Box 116, Schenevus, the Schenevus-Maryland Emergency Squad, 105 County Highway 34, Schenevus, or the VFW Post 2752, P.O. Box 94, Schenevus, NY 12155.
