C. Pinkney (Pink) Andrews, born in Stewart County, Oct. 8, 1836, married Maria Elizabeth Laurie, Jan. 2, 1873, at Paducah, Ky. Lived in Bells, Tennessee, according to a letter written by James David Andrews, father of Lt. General
Frank Maxwell Andrews
. The original letter was sent to Grace Andrews or possibly to Mary Tarbell (Dawson) Goddloe and in the letter he expresses that Lancelot Andrews is an ancestor.

Columbus Pinkney Andrews, son of Henry Andrews and Rebecca Sexton, came from Stewart County, Tenn. He was in the 50th Tenn Company H. He also ran a dry goods store for many years in Bells, Tenn. It was called C.P. Andrews & sons. He married into the Laurie Family, with his marriage to Maria Laurie, and her Uncle, Cranstoun H. Laurie and his daughter, Mary Isobelle "Belle" Cranstoun Laurie and wife, Margaret, were the famed Lincoln Spiritualists. There are books written about them and they were invited to the White House regularly to lead Spirit Circles for Pres. Lincoln and his wife, Mary. Cranstoun Laurie's father started the Church the Lincoln's attended, The New York Avenue Presbyterian Church, just blocks from the White House and came over from Scotland. Cranstoun Laurie also ran the main Post Office in Washington D.C. The death bed doctor of President Lincoln (one of 16) was also a step-son to Rev. James Laurie, Cranstoun's father. Obituary
C.P. Andrews

Blessed are the dead that die in the Lord from henceforth, yea sayeth the Spirit, they rest from their labors. and their works do follow them. This can truly be said of the aged citizen, Columbus Pickney Andrews of Bells, who departed this life Sunday, December 13, 1925 at the home of his devoted daughter, Mrs. E. E. Emison. Bro. Andrews had lived to the ripe age of 89 years. He was born at Standing Rock, Stuart County, Tenn., October 8, 1836. He was married to marie E. Laurie and to this union were born nine children, four of which are now living, Ashley, David and Scott Andrews and Mrs. E. E. Emison.

He moved to bells and went into business under the name of Andrews & Dawson; having been of the finest Christian integrity from childhood he carried this principal into his business, which soon gained for him a measure of success; however his aim in life was never to be a money getter but to live a life that God and man could both honor. This he did and bequeathed to his children and friends a value far greater than anything else he might have given them. For some time before he died he was an invalid but he never seemed to carp or complain; courteous to the last, never forgetting to say, "thank you" for the least favor. Thus, he grew old, mellowed up in God, and was ready for the harvest home.

Just a few days before he died he said to his pastor: "I may get well, or I may not; but in either case it is well with me." Amidst a beautiful floral decoration surrounded by his four children, and relatives, and a host of friends, his body rested in the house of his Lord while the services were conducted by his pastoor, Rev. V. A. DeShazo.

Peace be to his pathetic dust, highest joy to thy enraptured spirit. Father, friend, farewell until we meet beyon the shadows.

CP Andrews had called his store Dawson & Andrews at one time (early on) because he had gone into business with his dear friend & brother in law, William Penn Dawson. William Penn Dawson was married to the sister of CP Andrews' wife Maria (Laurie). Her name was Isabelle Michauex( Laurie). The couples were very close and lived near each other in Bells, Tenn. Their children were all cousins because of the Laurie sisters. Interestingly, William Penn Dawson also came from Stewart County, Tn. and his family has a rich history there. William Penn Dawson's daughter, Mary Tarbell Dawson married a Hallum Wood Goodloe and they went on to become the toast of Nashville in 1911-1915. Hallum was Secretary of State reporting to the Governor. She was active in many ways, state historian, and she placed the first sign up for the Natchez Trace in Nashville.

Columbus reportedly enlisted November 28, 1861 after a scuffle involving a small Union Patrol, possibly to bury Rachel (Meroney) Dawson??? She was buried on September 30, 1861 in Jones Cemetery, Stewart County.
