Longtime Camarillo resident Donald Waters passed away peacefully in his sleep Nov. 10, 2011.

Donald, son of Enoch Waters and Della Hedrick Waters, was born April 7, 1922, at the old St. John's Hospital in Oxnard. Donald grew up on South Mountain and rode his horse to attend elementary school at Center School in Camarillo. He attended Oxnard High School where he participated in football and track. He graduated from Oxnard High school in 1941 and attended Ventura College. Donald served in the military as a sergeant in the 77th Army Division's occupation forces in Japan.

After completing his military service, Don met Cora Ellen Faubian who became his wife in 1948. Don farmed walnuts, lima beans, and citrus in Camarillo. In later years, he farmed cotton in Porterville and vegetables in Salinas. Don was a member of the Oxnard Elks Lodge 1443 for more than 50 years. Don will be remembered as a good husband, a caring father, a loving grandfather, a helpful neighbor, trusted friend to many, a successful farmer, a hard-working cattle and horse rancher, and honest real estate broker.

He was preceded in death in 1983 by his wife, Cora Ellen Waters, and will join her at Ivy Lawn. He has three children (Donna Eileen Pascoe, Robert Donald Waters, and Carol Ann Johns), four grandchildren (Annan Pascoe, Corrie Pascoe, Andy Waters, and Jennifer Waters), one daughter-in-law (Heidi Waters) and two sons-in-law (David Pascoe and Kenny Johns).

Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19, Ivy Lawn Memorial Park.
