Surviving are his mother; his wife; children, Walter Dale (Jamie) Ballenger, Jr; Terry Wayne Ballenger; Dale (Rachel) Sizemore, Tracey (Jerry Farrell) Mills; Melanie (Dave) Herring; and Rob (Jona) Smith, who Dale loved as a son, 11 grandchildren; siblings, David (Cheryl) Ballenger, Daniel (Patty) Ballenger, Dennis (Becky) Ballenger and Paula (Earl) Jiles; sisters-in-law, Fran Reeser, Jackie Ayers, and Jeannie (Matt) Yeakel; and a brother-in-law, Randy (Fran) Lane.
He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
