Remains from Albany's Baptist Church Cemetery at the State Street Burial Grounds, which were relocated to Albany Rural Cemetery in 1868.
The inscription of this stone for the children of Sidney and Sally Wells appears to be:
Memory of
Harriet Maria Wells
Who died Nov 1, 1841
Aged 3 Years & 10 M___
Also
___ Howad & Wm Horace
Children of
Sidney & Sally Wells
Who died Nov 5th 1841
Aged 1 Year 4 ___
& 1 day
Rest in peace
This inscription is confusing as there are two boys listed with only one death date and age.
The December 31, 1866 meeting notes of Albany's Common Council includes the records of the State Street Burial Grounds and it confirms the information on Harriet Maria Wells but gives no death dates for James Howard or his brother Wm Horace. Also recorded in these records was Sally Wells the wife of Sidney and Sidney Wells Jr, however their stone was not found.
