She was half of The Williams Sisters, a 1920s vaudeville act with her sister Hannah. Dorothy married jazz legend Jimmy McPartland, and subsequently 2 other men. Her sister Hannah married 3 times as well, including bandleader Roger Wolfe Kahn and boxer Jack Dempsey.
