In 1900 she, her parents, eleven siblings, and a roomer, 50-year-old Herman Thalla, lived in a house they were renting at 735 North Fifth Street in Grand Forks, ND. Her father and brother James worked as carpenters, her sister Eliza as a teacher, and her brother John as a shipping clerk.
