OBITUARY

GRUVER - Funeral services for Arthur BERNSTEIN, long time resident in the Gruver area, were conducted Tuesday afternoon in the First Methodist Church with Rev. J. V. Patterson officiating. Burial was in Old Hansford Cemetery.

He died Sunday in an Amarillo hospital. He was 66 years old and had lived near Gruver since 1901.

He was born March 13, 1892 at Port Townsend, Washington, and came to Hansford County with his father, the late Captain John BERNSTEIN in 1901, at which time Captain BERNSTEIN filed on four sections of land north of the present site of Gruver.

He helped his father work teams used in building the Rock Island line from Guymon, Oklahoma, to Gruver. He later built an elevator on his farm six miles north of Gruber [sic] in 1922, and added to it in 1930.

He was married to Myrtly [sic] BRANDRIK in 1924.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Vern STERN, of Tucson, Arizona, and Mrs. Aline BAYLESS, of Gruver, and three grandchildren.

Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home directed the services.
