Clark Sherwood KELLOGG was born to Nathan KELLOGG (1789-1875) and Lucy SHERWOOD (1793-1859), on 5 May 1817 in Delaware Co., New York.

He went to California for a while after he completed his medical training. During this time he financed his future wife's college education at Baldwin Wallace College.

Dr. Clark Sherwood KELLOGG married Hannah Bertha KNOTT on 1 Jan 1857 in Richland County, Ohio [see attached marriage record]. He was born in Delaware Co., N.Y. on 5 May 1817, and died in Salem, Marion Co., IL in 1869, probably of heart attack, at age 51.

After Dr. Clark Sherwood KELLOGG's untimely death, wife Hannah Bertha KNOTT Kellogg (1833-1902) took her children to Lansing, Michigan where her older brother, Robert KNOTT was already living. She and her children remained there for many years. She also lived in Shiawasee Co., Michigan.

About 1901 Hannah's son Robert Barkdull KELLOGG (1861-1933) moved his family, including his widowed mother, two sisters and their husbands, and his wife and his children, from Lansing to Grand Rapids to start a new business. Hannah's other son Solon moved to New York for a job and and married and raised a family there.

NOTE:
Clark Sherwood KELLOGG was the son of Nathan KELLOGG and Lucy SHERWOOD. The Kellogg genealogy by Timothy Kellogg published in 1904 has only sketchy information on Nathan and some of the information is incorrect or misleading. CSK had several brothers:
Amos (1819-1845) unmarried;
Hiram (1823-___);
Darwin b. Cayuga Co., 1825 to Adrian MI and Swanton, Fulton Co., IN; NY
Nathan Sherwood b. NY 1827, in 1850 census he is living with his parents in Seneca Co., OH.

Nathan KELLOGG's father was Nathan Fairchild KELLOGG who served in the Revolutionary war. He lived in Ridgefield, Conn. He is a descendant of Daniel KELLOGG who came to Hartford, Conn. in 1640.
