NOTE: His name C. Solon Kellogg is seen in just about every record out there. He was named after his father Clark Sherwood Kellogg.

C Solon was born in Salem, Marion, Illinois to Dr. Clark Sherwood Kellogg and Hannah Bertha Knott, the youngest of five children. The family moved to Lansing, Michigan where they lived for several years.

When he reached manhood, he moved to New York. There he met his future bride Sara Ann/Annette Osburn of Port Byron, Cayuga, New York, the daughter of William David Osburn and Mary Ann Austin.

He married Sara Ann/Annette Osburn on 30 Jan 1887 in Port Byron, Cayuga, NY. and lived in Syracuse, Onondaga, NY. They moved to Rochester, Monroe, NY prior to 1900 and lived there many years, until he died. He died while he was a guest of George Bush at his house in Oswego. His wife Sara soon joined his daughter Sunshine Daggs and her husband in Southern California after his death.

His occupation was in the coal dealing business.

C. Solon and Sara had five girls (all daughtered out, no more Kelloggs):

Charlotte Osburn Kellogg (Gay)
Mary Elizabeth Kellogg (Wray)
Josephine Kellogg (died young)
C Sunshine Kellogg (Daggs)

C. Solon Kellogg Dies
C. Solon Kellogg, prominent merchant of Rochester for many years, and a reorganized authority on the coal trade, died yesterday morning at the age of 64 years, while a guest of George Bush at his home in Oswego. Mr. Kellogg was president of the Rochester Coal Merchants' Association, a member of the Rochester Automobile Club, the Chamber of Commerce, the Rochester City Club, the Ad Club, the Rochester Engineering Society, Corinthian Temple, and the Shrine Club. The family residence is at No. 120 Crossman Terrace. Funeral arrangements have not been announced.

Succumbs to Heart Attack at 64; Head of Rochester Fuel Firms Group

C. Solon Kellogg of No. 120 Crosman terrace, prominent Rochester coal dealer, died early yesterday morning of heart trouble at the home of George W. Bush at Oswego, where he and Mrs. Kellogg were visiting on their way home from a week-end trip to the Adirondacks.

Mr. Kellogg who was 64 years old, had been prominent in the wholesale and retail coal business in Rochester for many years. He was widely known as an authority on coal retailing, and at the time of the war he was frequently called in communication with representatives of the Federal fuel commission. Mr. Kellogg was a speaker at many sessions of the National Retail Coal Merchants' Association.

He was president of the Rochester Coal Merchants Association. He was a member of the Automobile Club of Rochester, the Chamber of Commerce, Rochester City Club, the Ad Club, the Rochester Engineering Society, and the following Machine bodies: Corinthian Temple Lodge, Rochester Consastory [?], Damascus Temple, and the Shrine Club.

Mr. Kellogg leaves his wife, Sarah Osburn Kellogg, four daughters Mrs. Ansel Gray and Mrs. Henry Wray, of the this city, Ruth Kellogg and Sunshine Kellogg of Montclair, N.J.; a brother R. B. Kellogg, a sister Mrs. Leslie Ash, both of Grand Rapids, Mich. and four grand children.

The body was brought to Rochester late yesterday afternoon and removed to the family home.
