Daughter of Jakob Bayer & Fanny Reich, born in Kasejovice, Bohemia. Documents registering her birth show the year 1834, which makes her age at death 71 instead of 70.

Wife of Philipp Weisskopf (1825-1900, buried in 'new' Jewish cemetery, Prague, Czech Republic).

Mother of Gustav, Camil, Samuel (aka Sam Whitehead), Isidor Victor, Elizabeth Bibo, Amalie (Molly) Reich, and Rosalie Beermann. Two other children died as infants: Ernst and Gizella.

After the death of her husband, Marie left Prague and joined her children and grandchildren in San Francisco, where she died.

Members of the Bayer family who immigrated to the US often changed spelling of their surname to "Buyer", thus preserving the German pronunciation while simultaneously Anglicizing it.

In researching the descendants of Marie and Philipp, note the frequent use of variations of the names Gustav and Philipp - Gustav being their eldest son who died in San Francisco as a young man, and Philipp, the 'patriarch'.
