Albert Gilmore
Albert Gilmore, 85, 2717 Adams, died Thursday, Dec. 20, at a Topeka nursing home.
Mr. Albert was a park policeman at Joplin, Mo., before he retired.
He was born May 9, 1899, at Brookville, (sic) Miss., the son of Judge and Mae E. Buckhalter Gilmore. He lived in Joplin 42 years before he moved to Topeka in 1966.
Mr. Gilmore was a member of Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church.
He was married to Marvel Thomas Aug. 4, 1924, at Fredonia. She survives. A daughter, Mrs. Mae Lee Wright, preceded him in death.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. mary Jane Martin, Topeka; two sons, Floyd Gilmore, Poughkeepsie, N.Y. and the Rev. Roy Gilmore, Lynbrook, N.Y.; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl B. Thomas, Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Mary Alice Costello, Cincinnati, Ohio; a brother, Padie Gilmore, Detroit, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Mr. Gilmore will lie in state from 4 until 8 p.m. Sunday at Bowser-Johnson Funeral Home.
