Lady Eve FitzJohn de Clavering de Audley de Ufford de Benhale

Daughter of Sir John FitzRobert Clavering and Hawise de Tibetot. Granddaughter of Sir Robert FitzRoger and Margery de la Zouche (daughter of Alan), Robert de Tibetot and Eve Chaworth (daughter of Patrick).

Eve married Thomas of Aldithley (Audley) and had no children. Thomas died shortly before 21 Nov 1307.

Secondly, she married Sir Thomas de Ufford, second son of Sir Robert de Peyton de Ufford and his wife, Joan. They had three sons; Sir John, Lord Ufford, Sir Robert and Sir Edmund. Sir Thomas was slain at the Battle of Bannockburn on 24 June 1314, when her father was taken prisoner.

Eve was living with, but not married to James Aldithley (Audley), the cousin of her first husband. It is speculated they did not marry due to licencing difficulties. They had two sons and three daughters; Sir Peter Audley and Sir James Audley, the Governor of Aquitaine and hero of the Battle of Poitiers, Katherine, Anne and Hawise.

Thirdly, she married Sir Robert de Benhale. They were married about 1337 or 1338, the date of the fine for marrying without licence, and had no children. Sir Robert was presented to Burgh Rectory in 1338 in right of his wife. In 1342, Eve and Robert released their interests in the manors of Clavering, Essex, Aynho, Northamptonshire, Eure, Buckinghamshire and Blythburgh, Suffolk to Ralph de Neville and Eve's mother, Hawise de Clavering. Eve's father had agreed in 1312 to grant these properties to, in turn, his brother, Edmund, and then to Ralph de Neville. Sir Robert was summoned to Parliament one time to become Lord Benhale.

Eve was buried with her three husbands and James at Langley Abbey.
