Margaret M. Adams Rief Johnson, 64, of Emerson died May 23 at the home of her son Dennis Rief in Council Bluffs.

She was born, April 25, 1940, in Neola to Thomas and Anna (Wellman) Adams. She moved to Emerson three years ago. She graduated in 1958 from St. Joseph High School in Neola. She was a homemaker and was of the Catholic faith.

Mrs. Adams and her husband, Richard, were married April 7, 2001. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Phil Adams.

Survivors in addition to her husband include daughters, Rebecca Mallory and Mary Stark; sons, Raymond Rief; twins, Dennis and Daniel Rief, Phillip Rief and Christopher Rief; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; stepdaughter, Karen Pray; stepsons, Charles and Daniel Johnson; sisters, Barbara Corrin, Trudy Russell and Mary Jo Dressel; brothers, Joseph and Tom Adams.

Wake service was held Wednesday at 7 p.m. followed by family visitation at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church in Neola. Burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Neola with a lunch at the parish hall.

Memorials may be offered to the American Cancer Society.
