Cora Evelyn Burgess, of Crossville, passed away Feb. 18, 2002. Funeral services were conducted Feb. 21 from the chapel of Bilbrey Funeral Home, with burial in Big Lick Cemetery. The Rev. Mike Smathers and the Rev. Pete Ullmann officiated, with special music by Sid Venable and Velma Witt.
Mrs. Burgess was born in Pleasant Hill, the daughter of Eston K. and Emily Elmore Wilbanks.
She was a registered nurse, and a member of Big Lick Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Butch and Vickie Burgess of Crossville; daughters and son-in-law, Linda and Jim Milam, and Sherry Smith, all of Crossville; sisters, Pearl Williams of Rickman, TN, Estelle Edwards of Knoxville, Edna Baisley of Crossville and Norma Gamble of Atlanta, GA; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eucle Burgess; sisters, Kellie Masters and Ruth Boswell; and son-in-law, Derrill Smith.
Pallbearers were Jonathan Treadway, Daniel Treadway, Chad Burgess, Mitch Treadway, Wayne Bradley, Keith Hinch, Lynn Tollett, Oliver Blaylock and Lynn Burgess.
Bilbrey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
