Death of Mrs. Ditmars
Mrs. Emily Banta Ditmars, widow of the late Peter Ditmars, died Tuesday morning at 3:00 at her home on Graham avenue. She was one of the oldest residents of the city, having been born Oct. 7, 1826. She was a native of Kentucky but came to this county with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John P. Banta, when a child. She was married to Peter Ditmars, March 12, 1849. The husband died about two months ago.
Mrs. Ditmars had been in failing health for several years, but not until the last few weeks had she become helpless. Her death had been momentarily expected for the past ten days. One sister, Mrs. Christina Ellis, survives her.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 from the residence, conducted by Rev. W. B. Tyler. Internment at Hopewell.
