Found in The State 24 April 1998:...Katharine Heath Manning Perry, 93,....Mrs. Perry died Wednesday, April 22, 1998. Born in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Moses Chappelle Heath and Elizabeth Bond Tennent. She grew up in her family home, Heathwood Hall, and was educated at The Bonair School in Columbia and The Finch School in New York, N. Y. Always active in her church and community, she was a lifelong member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral and was founder and first president of the Junior League of Columbia. She was a founding member of the Pine Tree Hunt Club and a member of The Assembly, Colonia Dames and Columbia Music Festival. She was also a member of several book clubs. Surviving are sons, C. Heath and Burwell D. Manning Jr, both of Columbia; 15 grandchildren and step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Burwell Deas Manning and James Young Perry, and a daughter, Lelia Manning Cart.
