His parents were Joseph Mansfield Moore and Mary Thomason.

He was a Private in Company F (Second Organization), 14th Virginia Calvary, CSA in the Civil War. His brothers, Napoleon Dolphus aka Adolph, Mansfield Marion, Charles M., and Benjamin Franklin Moore also joined the CSA during the Civil War.

His brothers, Napoleon Dolphus, Mansfield Marion, and Benjamin Franklin Moore, were also Privates in Company F (Second Organization), 14th Virginia Calvary. Another brother, Charles M. Moore, served as a Private in Company G, 14th Virginia Calvary.

The Moore brothers were written up in The Confederate Veteran Magazine, Volume XXIX, for 1921. There is an article entitled: Five Living Confederate Brothers on page 276. It mentions their service, their families, etc.

Mansfield Marion Moore and three of his four wives are also buried in Moore-Bain Cemetery.
