Alex Rice was the son of Martin VanBuren Rice and Nancy Whitaker. He was married to Margaret Cynthia Pace Rice,her father was Matthew Pace. Alex is buried in Gilbert Adams Cemetery along with his wife and several daughters,a son in law and his parents. When the 1918 Spainish Flu Epedemic came through the United States and reached Kentucky, Alex lost his wife and three daughters in a 10 day period. He never remarried and remained a widower for 31 years until his death in 1949.
