A native of Tennessee, age 64 (sic: 69) years.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 18, 1957, at 2:30 p.m. at the White Oaks chapel, 1696 El Camino Real, San Carlos. Interment Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno.

Note:

“When WWII started and a certain movie star went into the army with lots of publicity, dad decided he, too, would go back in. He had served in WWI. To get back in, he lied about his birth date, making himself a tad younger. When I came back from Newfoundland to go to OCS, he was a buck private in the engineers at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., already showing the younger ones how to build stuff without architect or plans. He had been a builder in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. He was quite a guy.” (WMM Jr.)

Headstone shows the birth date he used to enlist in WW2. His WW1 draft registration shows the correct date of 1887.
