Open House Is Held at Mt. Logan
An "open house" was held at Mt. Logan Sanatorium at Chillicothe Sunday, featuring a special program,
tours and other entertainment.
Attending from this county were Mrs. Del Teter, Leesburg, Mrs. Burton Morris and Mrs. Ralph Same, of
Hillsboro.
The program presented outdoors, included a skit entitled "A Day at Mt. Logan Sanatorium." Patients
took part in this skit, including Elsie Hull of New Petersburg. Highland County currently has six patients
at the tuberculosis hospital. Tours of the hospital's facilities were taken by a large crowd of visitors.
Refreshments were served in the late afternoon. Staff members and nurses were hosts for the affair.

Mrs. Elsie Shepherd
Mrs. Elsie Shepherd, 60, New Petersburg, died Thursday at 6 P.M. in her residence.
Born Nov. 29, 1908, in New Petersburg, she was a daughter of Charles and Ella Cox Mershon.
Her first husband, Louis Hull, died in 1957, and her second husband, Arthur Shepherd, died in 1966.
She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Mrs. Shepherd is survived by her father, New Petersburg; two brothers and three sisters, Joe Mershon,
Greenfield; Harry Mershon, Miss Grace Mershon and Mrs. Ora (Millie) Cartwright, all of New Petersburg,
and Mrs. Manuel (Ruth) Bluff, Columbus.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Last rites were read Sunday at 2 P.M. in the
Murray Funeral Home, Rev. Robert K. Blaine officiated. Interment was in Gilboa Cemetery, New Petersburg.
