Colored Couple Celebrate 50th Wedding Anniversary
To be Carroll, venerable colored resident of this city , called at the Inquirer office this morning, reporting that he and his wife celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Monday. An elaborate celebration with a service at the church was planed, he stated, which was called off on account of his wife's health.
He wishes to thank kind white friends for remembering them, some presenting them with gifts of cash and other remembrances.
He stated that he had much for which to be thankful, plenty of work to do and kind friends.
Of the eleven children born to the couple, he said that but four are still living.

Beloved Passes Away In Death of Toby Carrol
Death claimed another beloved old Gonzales "darky" Thursday when Toby Carrol passed away.
Toby, as he was known by his many friends among the white and black, has owned a sho shop in Gonzales for the past decade and he served his customers with courtesy and promptness on every occasion.
For many years he was located where the Alcalde hotel now stands and his little shop at its present location has been smoothly operating under Toby's kind and courteous management for so many years that Toby is going to be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services have been set for Sunday afternoon.
Son of Sie Carroll & Louise Braches.
