Daniel, Fredrick and Samuel were known as the Swiss yodelers in America.
Fredrick Engemann, at age 24, birthplace, Berne, Switzerland on October 29, 1843. He emigrated from Hamburg, Germany sailed on The Hammonia, port of entry, 10 June, 1867. Fredrick was the only family member to ever return to Switzerland. He went there in 1890 to help settle their mother's will following her death. He then returned to Kansas to live out his life.(Src: Recorded information from papers given to Virgil D. Reichle by Walter E. Engeman, Jr.)
Obituary: ENGEMANN. Fred Engemann was born in Switzerland, Oct. 29, 1843, and died at the home of his son, W. H. Engemann four miles north-west of Wathena, Aug. 31, 1916, at the age of 72 years.
Funeral services will be held at the Smith Creek German Reformed Church tomorrow, Sept. 2, at 2 P.M. Interment will be at the Smith Creek cemetery.(Src: The Wathena Times, September 1, 1916.)
