Arleen S. Wingert, 85, of Chambersburg, died April 28.

She was a daughter of the late George A. and Ruth M. Felix Spangler. Her husband, Robert C. Wingert, died July 6, 1999.

Mrs. Wingert graduated in 1937 from Gettysburg High School, and in 1941 from Gettysburg College, where she was a member of the Gettysburg College Choir. She began her teaching career at Littlestown High School through 1947, and retired from Chambersburg High School in 1980, where she taught English and Latin. Mrs. Wingert was a member and former Sunday school teacher at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chambersburg. She had been active with the Senior Choir for 41, years and served two terms as church council president. Mrs. Wingert was a member of the Martha Custis Chapter 342 Order of Eastern Star, Chambersburg.

She is survived by one, son Robert C. Wingert Jr. of Gettysburg; one daughter, Susan A. Wingert of Chambersburg; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
