Clayton A. "Luigi" Baron, 59, of 1304 Hodge St., died unexpectedly of an apparent heart attack at 9 p.m. Wednesday (June 16, 1971) while on a camping trip near Greencastle, Ind.
Born July 22, 1911 in Martinton, Ill., He was the son of Phillip and DesNeiges Mourie Baron. He married Mayme Fermon, April 15, 1938 in Danville and she preceded him in death Sept. 19, 1969. Surviving from this marriage is a son, Gary Lee at home.
Mr. Baron then married Anna M. Ollis, Sept. 19, 1970 and she survives. Survivors from the marriage are two step children; Mrs. MarRue Nolan of Danville and Melvin Gene Ollis of Phoenix, Ariz.
Survivors from a previous marriage are three sons, Robert, Richard and John, all of Kankakee; a daughter, Shirley of Kankakee.
Other survivors include his parents, four brothers, Orlin, Merlin, and Eldon, all of Kankakee, and Elmond of Troy, Ohio; two sisters Ola May Shobar and Mrs. Blanche marie Foockle, both of Kankakee; several nieces and nephews and 12 grandchildren.
A brother preceded him in death.
Mr. Baron worked for 22 years as an electrician at General Motors and owned and operated Baron's Auto Clinic. He was a musician with the Ovall Orchestra. He was a member of the musician's local, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Jewell Whyte Post Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Curtis G. Redden Post of the American Legion.
Mr. Baron was also a member of United Auto Workers 579 and served in World War II in the Army in France and Germany.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Rev. Frank Faulstich officiating. Visitation will be 7 – 9 p.m. Thursday; 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. Friday at Berhalter-Irvin Funeral. Home. Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the G. A. R. Cemetery in Homer.
